Unit 6
By the end of the Napoleonic Wars only Great Britain was poised to dominate the geopolitical landscape of the 19th century. After the political revolutions of the late 1700s a new revolution began in Britain focused on the production of goods. This is known as the Industrial Revolution. The revolution would spread across Europe fundamentally changing the way people lived. The revolution brought with it many new and innovated technologies but it was not without its issues. By the end of the 19th century many people called for reform. Political reform was also sought by many. Groups across Europe rebutted the triumph of conservatism at the Congress of Vienna in 1815 and instead sought to institute liberal ideologies. Collectively these political reforms are known as the Revolutions of 1848. The triumphs and failures of the 1800s still resonate to this day.
