Unit 5
European powers were not the only nations to build large states. Vast empires emerged throughout Asia between the 15th and 17th centuries. In the Middle East the Ottoman and Safavid empires built Islamic states. In South Asia the Mughals built an empire that encompassed most of the Indian subcontinent. In China a new dynasty, the Ming, arose to defeat the Mongols. The Ming dynasty would transform China into a global power that was able to extend its influence far beyond it's boarders. These early modern empires of Asia had a significant global impact.
