Unit 3
Beginning in the 16th century and through the late 18th century individuals began to question long held beliefs regarding the natural world as well as political philosophies. Those that studied the natural world looked to reason rather than religion to help form their understandings. Collectively these new understandings are known as the Scientific Revolution and many of these ideas would last well into the 20th century. Other individuals began to question the long standing political traditions in Europe. These individuals and their ideas would become known as the Enlightenment and these philosophies would spark revolutions around the globe. This period also saw a tremendous demographic shit. The changes associated with these events makes this period a pivotal point in European and world history.
