Unit 1
The late middle ages was a period of change around the globe. States formed in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. The rise of Islam and the territorial conquest of its followers had a tremendous impact on not only the Middle East, but in Africa, Europe, and South Asia. The Islamic world also became the center of learning; however, Islam was not the only religion to have a significant impact on global events. Hinduism and Buddhism produced new states and empires throughout Asia. Christianity came to dominate European politics and society. Large complex societies formed in both north and south America as well. Groups around the world became more interdependent as the global tapestry continued to grow.
